Opiikapawiin Services LP (“Opiikapawiin”) is a 100% First Nation-owned organization established by a partnership of 24 First Nations in Northwestern Ontario. Opiikapawiin works to support First Nation communities through a range of services, including Indigenous engagement and participation, training and employment, community development, project management, land-based and cultural services, and communications.
The 24 First Nations partnership is also the majority owner of Wataynikaneyap Power, a transmission company that constructed approximately 1,800 km of transmission line to connect remote First Nations to the provincial electricity grid. Opiikapawiin continues to provide services in support of Wataynikaneyap Power, while also assisting the First Nations partnership in managing its investment and preparing for the transition to 100% First Nation ownership in 2049.
Through its projects and services, Opiikapawiin aims to strengthen community capacity, uphold First Nation values, and create meaningful opportunities for communities and their members.
